About this GPS speedometer
A speedometer in knots for sailing, windsurf, wing, kite, SUP and kayak, using your phone's GPS. It shows four numbers, big enough to read on the water:
- KN: your speed over ground right now, in knots.
- MAX: your top speed this session.
- COG: course over ground, the direction you're actually moving, which can differ from where the bow points.
- TIME: how long you've been out.
Underneath there's a live chart of your speed and heading over the last hour. When you finish, your most recent session is kept in your browser on this phone only. Your positions are never sent to our server.
It's a web app: it works on any phone, iPhone or Android, with nothing to download from a store and no account. Before you head out, check the wind, gusts and waves.
Add it to your home screen
Once added, it opens full-screen from your home screen with no address bar, just like a native app.
On iPhone (Safari)
- Open the Web dashboard in Safari (Add to Home Screen only works from Safari, not Chrome or other browsers).
- Tap the Share icon (the square with an arrow pointing up) in the toolbar.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add in the top-right corner.
On Android (Chrome)
- Open the Web dashboard in Chrome.
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Tap Add to Home screen (or Install app, if Chrome offers it directly).
- Tap Add (or Install) to confirm.
